From the tender age of seven years old Drew Barrymore had made her debut into the world of entertainment. She starred in the 1982 Steven Spielberg film ‘ET – The extra terrestrial’ she captured the hearts of everyone who watched it with her cute portrayal of the young lead character and this role lead her to many new and exciting roles and opportunities to come.
However, as she got older Drew began to fall victim to the pressures of being a child actress and soon turned to drugs and alcohol which sent her off the rails for a while and earned her the reputation of a bit of a Hollywood wild child. She bounced back and recovered her acting career soon enough though with the starring role in a film called ‘Poison Ivy’ in which she played a teenage girl trying to seduce an older man.
After the film she also posed nude in the 1995 edition of Playboy Magazine. Steven Spielberg reportedly sent her quilt for her birthday after this with a note attached saying ‘Cover Yourself Up’ in reference to the playboy pose.
Drew eventually ended up back on top form with starring roles in several hit films such as the remake of Charlie’s Angles alongside Cameron Diaz and Lucy Lieu and various different comedy films like ‘Duplex’ with Ben Stiller and ‘The perfect catch’ where she plays a woman competing for her husbands affection against his extreme love of baseball.
Drew Barrymore has been married twice, once to Welsh barman Jeremy Thomas in 1994 and again to actor and comedian Tom Green in 2001. Their relationship only lasted a year though and the couple later divorced with rumours circulating that Tom had wanted to settle down and have a family whilst Drew wanted to pursue her career further. She is now dating popular band ‘The Strokes’ drummer Fabrizio Moretti.
Keen to explore the other side of acting Drew decided to try her hand at producing films as well as starring in them including Charlie’s Angels, Duplex and the cult hit film ‘Donnie Darko’.
She received a star on the Hollywood walk of fame on February 3rd 2004 and is currently in the process of filming and producing many new and exciting movies.
