Evangeline Lilly
Evangeline Lilly has been acting for a while now but has recently become best known for her starring role as Kate Austen in the latest cult TV series to hit our screens; the dramatic and captivating ‘Lost’. Her full name is Nicole Evangeline Lilly, and she was born on August 3rd 1979 in Canada.
Lilly spent a short time serving as a foreign missionary in the Philippines and has been involved as a volunteer for children’s projects ever since she was 14 years old.
She was spotted by ‘Ford Modelling Agency’ who approached her regarding a modelling career, but although modelling didn’t interested her she signed to their acting branch in a big to help fund her University payments.
One of her first roles was in the horror film ‘Freddy vs. Jason’ but this was simply a small un credited role for which she gained little recognition. In 2004 she had a guest appearance in the hit supernatural TV series ‘Kingdom Hospital’ which eventually lead her to the biggest role of her career; the role of Kate in the new drama series ‘Lost’.
The series was an instant hit, hooking viewers from its very first episode and drawing them in with its deep and complex storylines. Her role in the first series of Lost earned her the honour of being voted one of the Breakout Stars of 2004 by Entertainment Weekly. She was re signed to continue her role in the second series of Lost which is proving to be just as good as the first, dragging in huge numbers of viewers each week.
Lilly is fluent in French and has also worked as a flight attendant before getting involved in the acting scene. Her nicknames include ‘Evi’ and ‘Monkey’ because of her tree climbing skills whilst working on Lost.
She Attended the University of British Columbia where she attained a degree in international relations and loves taking part in outdoor sports and anything edgy and adventurous.
Evangeline has been married once to Hockey player Murray Hone and is now rumoured to be engaged to fellow ‘Lost’ co star Dominic Monaghan. It will be interesting to see where the new found fame will take this fresh new actress in the future. Definitely one to watch out for!
