Josie Maran
Born Johanna Selhorst Maran, Josie Maran is an American with a whole lot of talent, Born in 1978 to a father with Russian and Polish decent, and a mother of Dutch, German and French decent, Josie has a truly international look, which has helped her greatly in the modelling world.
Maran was spotted by an agent, whilst at her local barbeque restaurant, who offered her a part time contract, Maran’s career advanced greatly after she graduated and was able to take on full time work, although she is considered by most to be too short to be a typical model (at just 5 feet 7 inches) her good looks have made her very popular in magazine and editorial work.
Josie was signed at the age of seventeen by well known and respected modelling agency Elite in Los Angeles, where she did her first magazine cover for Glamour in 1998, progressing towards an impressive resume of over twenty five adverts and commercials including working with the Back Street Boys on one of their music videos,.
Josie soon made the big step of moving across America to join Elite in New York, to try and progress her career and it worked signing a massive deal with international cosmetics firm Maybelline (which is where her idol Christy Turlington worked).
Maran turned her attentions away from the modelling world and has started to pursue a career in acting, starting off with a little known production in 2001 called “The Mallory Effect”, this independent film paved the way for her entry into more mainstream movies, starting with “Little Black Book” where she played a French model, and more recently one of Dracula’s brides in “Van Helsing”
In 2005 Maran made the bold move of staring in a video game, Electronic Arts signed her up for an appearance in their hit game series “Need For Speed : Most Wanted” Maran plays a character called “Mia” who leads you (the player) through the game.
Josie had a long running romantic relationship with popular trickster “David Blane”, who allegedly had a “J” tattooed on his chest symbolising his love for her at the time, In a recent magazine interview, Maran told of how she has quit her modelling and acting careers and has changed her whole life around, starting with a move to Hawaii where she teaches children, not to mention giving up smoking, taking up yoga and eating organic foods.
