Keira Knightley

Keira Knightley is the British born actress who shot to stardom in the relatively low budget British movie ‘Bend it like Beckham’ in which she played a young girl with a love of football. The movie gained her some great praise from critics and was to be the platform she needed to branch out into bigger roles.

What came next for Keira was the once in a lifetime opportunity for a role in the massively popular film ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ in which she played the role of the feisty Elizabeth Swann. The movie is based on the Disney theme park ride and also stars Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp.

The film was hugely popular and gained massive box office ratings sending Keira spiralling further into stardom. She reprised her role as Elizabeth in the 2006 sequel ‘Pirates of the Caribbean – Dead man’s chest’ and is currently filming the third chapter ‘At world’s end’ at the moment which is likely to be just as successful, if not more so than the first two.

Keira is well known and respected in the movie industry mostly due to her laid back, easygoing nature and fun personality and has rarely had any bad press except for a few concerns about her weight loss from time to time which she assured fans was definitely not the result of an eating disorder.

She has starred in films ranging from the dark and mysterious thriller ‘The Hole’ to the star studded romantic comedy ‘Love Actually’ by director Richard Curtis in which she plays a newlywed who’s husbands best friend is secretly in love with her.

Her scenes in the film were limited but she gave a fantastic performance and had great chemistry with her co actors. Keira then went on to play the role of Guinevere in acclaimed director Jerry Bruckheimer’s latest film ‘King Arthur’ and travelled to both Wales and Ireland for filming.

The film was met with mixed reviews when it was released but despite this Keira was still noted as an actress to watch out for in 2003 by the media.
Keira Knightley currently lives in London with her boyfriend Rupert Friend, a fellow actor with whom she co starred with in the movie ‘pride and Prejudice’ an adaptation of the classic Jane Austin novel. It has been rumoured that she may take a one year break from acting to focus on her personal life and do some travelling like other normal teenagers.
