Kirsten Dunst
Kirsten Dunst is the well-known blonde haired actress from New Jersey who’s varied career has seen many different roles as she has climbed her way up the Hollywood ladder to stardom. Probably best known for her role as the red haired ‘Mary Jane Watson’ in the Spider Man films she is constantly surprising fans with her ability to adapt to many different movie genres as time goes by.
Kirsten was a child fashion model from an early age and went on to star in various Television commercials and was soon signed with Ford Models and Elite Models management. She quickly made her way to roles on the big screen and after a few lower budget films she hit the big time at 11 years old with a role in the adaptation of the classic Anne Rice novel ‘Interview with a vampire’ she played a young Vampire who was taken in by characters played by Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise.
Her fantastic portrayal at such a young age certainly made an impression on both critics and fans of the movie. She turned her hand to singing in the 2001 film ‘Get over it’ performing two songs penned by Marc Shaiman and went on to appear in the band ‘Savage Garden’s’ video for the hit single ‘I knew I loved you’ in which she plays the part of lead singer Darren Hayes girlfriend.
Her roles in comedy films such as ’Bring it on’ and the romantic comedy ‘Wimbledon’ in which she plays one of the best female tennis players were well received by the public and she began to become known for these types of roles.
She managed to break the mould however, when she starred in the Sofia Coppola directed film ‘Mary Antoinette’ taking on the lead role as the Austrian archduchess who married into the French royal family in 1770. Although her portrayal of the role caused a few raised eyebrows she was praised for her acting ability throughout and the courage to take on such a difficult role.
Kirsten Dunst enjoyed a two year relationship with fellow actor Jake Gyllenhaal and the two were the subject of much media attention before they decided to split in July 2004
Kirsten is currently filming Spiderman 3 and has many more projects on the go and is rumoured to be working on her own production company titled ‘Wooden Spoon Productions’ with her mother.
