Milla Jovovich

Ukrainian born Milla Jovovich is a versatile and confident actress who is best known for her roles in hot films such as ‘Resident Evil’.

Milla moved to London with her family when she was just 4 years old and from there moved to Los Angeles California where they finally settled down. She first got her big break when photographer Richard Avedon saw her in the street and asked her to feature in ‘Revlon’s’ most unforgettable women and in October 1987 she was featured as the fresh faced model on the front cover of fashion magazine ‘Lei’.

Even bigger things were to come however when she appeared on the cover of ‘Face’ and made contacts enabling her to appear in ‘Vogue’ and ‘Cosmopolitan’. Milla is the face of L’Oreal cosmetics and ‘Mango’ clothing company.

Somehow this line of career that she found herself in had opened up new doors for possible acting opportunities that Milla was keen to try her hand at.

She went on to star opposite ‘Charmed’ star Brian Krause in the film ‘Return to the blue lagoon’ in 1991 and finally got the starring role she had dreamed of when she landed the part of ‘Leeloo’ in the critically acclaimed science fiction movie ‘The fifth element’ alongside such actors as the king of action films himself Bruce Willis and British actor Gary Oldman.

The movie was more of a hit than anyone could have imagined and even now it is a firm favourite on most people’s top 10 list of films.

From here Milla was cast in the movie adaptation of horror survival game ‘Resident Evil’ and once again she wowed audiences with her portrayal. She wasn’t afraid to take on even the most challenging of action scenes and her hard work on the movie paid off when the viewing figures were announced.

Milla Jovovich ventured into the singing world in 1994 when she released her album ‘The Divine Comedy’ it was a mix of catchy unusual songs with a Russian folk music like influence to them.

Jovovich has been married twice, once to actor Shawn Andrews and later to ‘The fifth element’ director Luc Besson from 1997-1999. She is now rumoured to be engaged to writer Paul W.S Anderson.
