Monica Belluci
Monica Belluci is an Italian actress and who was born on September 30th 1964. She was initially studying at University to become a lawyer but after getting a taste of the high flying modelling career she had taken on part time to pay for her studies she was soon tempted away.
Monica’s modelling career soon lead her into the movie industry and she took on her first major role in the movie ‘Bram Stokers Dracula’ alongside actor Gary Oldman and Keanu Reeves.
The film was a huge success and captivated audiences with its dark and gothic scenes. This was not the only time Monica would star alongside Keanu Reeves however, she is probably best known for her role as Persephone in the huge cult movies ‘The Matrix Reloaded’ and ‘The Matrix Revolutions’ by the Wachowski Brothers and she instantly became a classic character who was popular with fans of the trilogy as it swept the globe.
Another massive role that she took on was the portrayal of Mary Magdalene in the controversial Hollywood blockbuster ‘The passion of the Christ’ the role was a challenge to her as even though everyone naturally assumed she was a Roman Catholic she is actually agnostic.
Monica Belluci is married to fellow actor Vincent Cassel with whom she has acted in several movies, and the couple have a young daughter called Deva together who was born in 2004 but according to rumour the couple don’t actually live together, they have separate apartments to avoid falling into a routine. Whether this is a rumour or genuinely true only Monica or Vincent could answer!
Whilst pregnant with her child Monica posed nude for the Italian ‘Vanity Fair’ magazine in a tasteful classic shot which as well as being a celebration of the pregnant female form, also showed that Monica could look great no matter what.
Monica Belluci is just as well known for her fashion career as her acting; she was signed with ‘Elite Model Management’ and has travelled all around the world posing for such highly regarded brands such as ‘Dolce and Gabbana’ and the French ‘Elle’.
She can still be seen on covers of magazines, mostly when promoting a recent movie, but occasionally modelling fashion. Monica is currently working on several new films for 2007 so it should be a great year for this beautiful Italian actress.
