Cool Girls. Cool Games. Cool Movies
Natalie Portman
Natalie Portman is probably best known for her roles in some of the most talked about films of this year such as V for Vendetta and Garden State, but before she became a big Hollywood star she starred in a couple of smaller films.
One of the first films to get her noticed was the mad cap comedy film ‘Mars Attacks!’ although the film wasn’t to everyone’s taste it made an impact on the movie scene with people either loving it or hating it.
She later went on to star in Luc Besson's 1994 film ‘Leon’ in which she played the brilliant and touching role of a young girl who befriends an older assassin after he saves her life. This film won Natalie much critical acclaim and is a firm favourite with movie fans today.
A role for which Star Wars fans will always remember Natalie Portman is her portrayal of Padme Amidala in the prequel’s to the original star war’s films. Having never seen the originals before it is rumoured that Natalie was a little reluctant to take the role on at first, but she took the plunge and it paid off as she managed to play an utterly convincing and captivating role in these much loved cult classic films.
Natalie went on to star in the films ‘Closer’ and the Sundance film festival winning ‘Garden State’ directed by ‘Scrubs’ star Zach Braff which is now getting rave reviews.
One of her more recent roles is that of Evey Hammond in the film ‘V For Vendetta’ she starred alongside Hugo Weaving who played the mysterious ‘V’ and acted her role brilliantly.
Natalie even went so far as to shave her head half way through the film for the scene where she is imprisoned, and has been quoted as saying ‘It was kind of wonderful to throw vanity away for a bit’ her commitment to the film paid off as it was instantly a huge hit!
Natalie Portman is definitely not just a pretty face and a fantastic actress though; she is a very talented young woman and has a bachelor's degree in Psychology after studying at Harvard University.
She likes to keep her private life out of the media spotlight as much as possible but is friends with some of the top names in music and showbiz such as Adam Levine from Maroon5, Moby, Hayden Christensen and many more.
This is an actress who is definitely going places, and still only being in her mid 20’s means that she has plenty of times to keep those classic movies coming. The world really is her oyster.
