Scarlett Johansson
Scarlett Johansson was born in New York on November 22nd 1984. She is one of Hollywood’s most highly regarded young actresses and has proved to be more than capable of handling just about any role that is thrown at her. Best known for her roles in ‘Ghost World’ and ‘Lost in Translation’ she is an actress who is well on her way to reaching new heights of stardom.
After appearing in several low budget films in the 1990’s Scarlet Johansson soon found that her roles in ‘The Horse Whisperer’ and the 2001 film ‘Ghost World’ were earning her huge amounts of praise from critics and movie fans around the globe.
It was in 2003 that she took on a role in the film ‘Lost in translation’ alongside actor Bill Murray and the film gained much media attention and praise from critics making this her third successful movie at such a young age.
She was later nominated for two BAFTA Awards, one for ‘Lost in translation’ and one for her other movie ‘Girl with a pearl earring’ She won the award for ‘Lost in Translation’ which added to her credibility as a talented star.
In 2005 Scarlett went on to star with popular Scottish actor Ewan McGregor in the action film ‘The Island’ it was her first role in an action filmed and she was keen to jump straight in with filming and gave it her all. The overall effect was a stunning film that kept you on the edge of your seat and deserved to do a lot better than it actually did in the ratings.
She then starred in the Woody Allen film ‘Match Point’ a racy thriller about a man whose obsession with a woman pushes him to murder. Scarlett was nominated for a Golden Globe award for her performance in the film but lost out to actress Rachel Weisz.
In 2006 Scarlett appeared alongside actress Keira Knightley and fashion designer Tom Ford in a controversial and revealing shoot in which the two girls appeared naked draped over Tom Ford. She later went on to win various ‘Sexiest women alive’ polls and became a highly desirable actress and model.
Scarlett Johansson keeps her personal life closely under wraps and stats that it is nice not to have people know the more intimate details about your life. Her favourite food is cheese and she believes that too much emphasis is put on the weight of celebrities nowadays and states that being ultra thin is not sexy at all.
